Basso Profundo Feodor Chaliapin

Basso Profundo Feodor Chaliapin was known as the greatest basso vocalist in the world, long before the three tenors, Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras were competing for the position of greatest Tenor in the opera world. Chaliapin's vocal power was equalled by his acting ability, which saw him in many famous roles of an emotional nature.  Chaliapin (1873-1938) was also dramatically photogenic, and when a group of extraordinary carte-de-visite photographs became available as part of a large Chaliapin collection, they were acquired for the Archive.Chaliapin 2 CdV copyThe CdVs are late, probably dated between 1900 and 1905. Few, if any, photos of opera singers in action have captured the power and excitement of the art like these three CdVs do.  They bring the performer to life, as the personality seeks to escape from its two dimensional confinements. Please share your comments below or share this blog with your friends on Social Media or “like” this page on FB or Twitter.Looking for the perfect picture for your next project?
