Jimmy Dykes

1.-TIGERS-RAZZ-DYKES-1939.jpg

This is a Wide World Agency photograph from August 12, 1939.  Let me quote from the paper caption on the back:"Detroit Tigers got a kick out of this.  When Jimmy Dykes was tossed out of Thursday's game in Detroit and was on his way to the club house, he was given the usual 'ride' by the Tigers as he passed the Detroit dugout.  Dykes ran afoul of Umpire Eddie Rommel over a decision at the plate, and as usual, lost the argument.  Dykes is a noted player 'baiter’ and the Tigers did not lose a chance to give Jimmy the works as he walked by."
