Sam Crawford Scoring

Sam-Crawford-Scoring6.jpg

Sam Crawford scoring looks like a horse trying to slow down. He's just crossed the plate, as Patsy Livingston is attempting to control the ball in the background. I don't even care that the umpire is unnamed, because the scene is so perfectly recorded. The photographer was on the ground behind the plate, probably with one of those bulky 4x5 news cameras, looking up as Crawford ran by.  His timing immaculate, the shot includes the ump in full gesture, the catcher occupied on the right, and with the on deck hitter standing far left. I should have been very excited when this real photo postcard came in, and I can't believe that I don't remember where I found it, because that was a red letter day, and that's for sure. Please share your comments below or share this blog with your friends on Facebook, Linkedin or Twitter.Looking for the perfect picture for your next project?
