Tears Of A Baseball Clown - Nick Altrock Clowning in Griffith Stadium

Did baseball clown Nick Altrock really have fun mocking himself in front of Griffith Stadium fans for all those years? He put on a good show and he was always laughing. Here, on June 25, 1921, three years before the Senators would win their first world championship, Altrock has brought a confabulation of clowns to the ballpark. Each costume and make-up job is different, and the most at home of all is Altrock himself, crouching at the end of the line with a megaphone in his hand. I just checked and Altrock’s kept clowning through the 1930s, and what I think is that he just loved to laugh.
