The Babe’s Notorious Tour

BabeRuthSpecialTourPostcard6.jpg

This is the Babe’s notorious post-season tour that got him in so much trouble.  Commissioner of Baseball Kennesaw Landis warned the Babe that the tour was not sanctioned, but the events went ahead including the production of these two photo postcards with the promoter's address prominently displayed.  The tour proved a disaster, both financially and for Ruth's young career. For defying Landis, Ruth was banned without pay for 39 days into the 1922 season. A harsh and memorable punishment.Babe Ruth Tour Postcard
